Tips for easing Morning Sickness:
* Eat a lot
of small meals and light snacks.
* Have light snacks on bedside table for quick snacks.
* Keep fresh cut lemons in
a baggie with you. If you feel sick, take a big sniff.
* Keep fresh citrus around the house. The scent eases naseua.
*
Try rasberry sherbert.
* Eat Ginger Snaps or drink Ginger Ale.
* For extreme morning sickness, eat one or two bites every 20 minutes.
* Try Sea Bands for sea
sickness. They can be found in any drug store.
* Chewing on ginger root can help.
* McDonald's French Fries. (given by one of my clients)
Tips For Easing Pregnancy Discomfort:
*For hip discomfort sit on a wooden
chair, lift your leg as high as is comfortable keeping leg straight. Have partner put one hand under your calf
and the other under the ankle. Pull gently, but mother should not move.
*Buy a pillow wedge for your stomach it works
for all 9 months and then works for the baby to elevate his head when he has a cold. These pillows can be found at Babies
'R Us.
*For heartburn try Chamomile tea, an orange, or chew a stick of gum right after eating.
*For hemorroids put
Tucks Pads in the refrigerator for extra cooling. You may also sit on a Boppy Pillow for comfort all of the time.
*Sit on a Labor Ball for discomfort. They can be found at Wellspring. Any place that sells
a Yoga equipment will have them listed as Yoga Balls.
TIPS FOR A NATURAL INDUCTION (PLEASE
TALK TO YOUR DOCTOR BEFORE ATTEMPTING ANYTHING) These are only suggestions. Not all things work for all women.
*Cinnamon
Tea
*Rasberry Leaf Tea
*Ginger
*Cummin
*Lots of Sex
*Evening Primrose Oil 500MG inserted vaginally (this
can vary by doula and midwife)
*Walking and Stairs
*Accupressure
*Nipple Stimulation (talk with your doctor there
is some concern that NS can cause contractions to be too strong)
*Black and Blue Cohosh - 4 drops under the tongue every
4 hours to encourage labor. 3 drops under the tongue alternating every 15 minutes to progress a slow labor.
*A bumpy
car ride, providing water hasn't broken.
Tips for easing pain in labor
*Lavander
*Accupressure
*Rice socks warmed in a microwave can be nice under belly and on the neck.
*Labor Ball - They can be found at
Wellspring. Any place that sells a Yoga equipment will have them listed as Yoga Balls.
*Shower and warm bath
(If water breaks talk to your care provider first)
* Soft Lights
*Mineral oil for message and to help prevent episiotomy.
*Changing positions frequently and swaying hips back and forth.
*Making dure that mom is keeping relaxed by watching her brow and shoulders for tension. Keeping these relaxed can help
labor tremendously.
Tips after birth.
*In cases of an episiotomy, sit on a Boppie Pillow to
relieve pain.
*Take everything you can from the hospital especially the maxi pads, they are hard to find as big as you
need in a store. Bed Pads or Chucks, you will need them for your bed at home. You may bleed more then you expect.
A nurse will let you know what you can and can't take.
*Meet with the lactation consultant while you are still in the
hospital. That way you won't pay for the meeting out of your pocket.
*Buy bulk paper products and plastic wear from a
BJs or Sams. This will prevent you from having to do any dishes for the first week or two.
*For soar and cracked
nipples put caffinated tea bags in warm water, the warmer the better. Then apply tea bags to the nipples right
after feeding. Wash the tea off before breast feeeding again. The bitter taste may discourage the babies feeding.
